Welcome back! We are so excited to begin this year with you and your family.

First Day of School: Wednesday, August 10

Parents of Kindergarteners

Kindergarten Preview Day
Monday, August 8 | 8:30 - 11:00 a.m.

In preparation for the new year we would like to invite your rising kindergartener to attend Kindergarten Preview Day on August 8th at Northwest Classical Academy. The purpose of a preview day is for your child to become familiar with the school and teachers prior to the first day of school. Please have your kindergartener ready for the day wearing sneakers and bring a labeled and filled water bottle. We are unable to provide snacks so please ensure that your student has healthy breakfast or snack before arriving. Uniforms are optional, but encouraged. We look forward to seeing all of our new kindergarteners on Monday, August 8th. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Listro, Dean of Academics.

Tears and Cheers
August 10 | 7:30 a.m. | The Media Center

Parents of kindergarteners are invited to drop their child off at the entrance to the kindergarten hallway and then gather in the media center for Tears and Cheers. There will be coffee, snacks, and celebration of the journey that our youngest students are embarking upon.

Kindergarten parents should park and enter the building using the crosswalk adjacent to the front door and otherwise avoid walking across the carpool line. On the first day, kindergarten parents with an older student(s) may walk them in as well, and they will be directed to join their classmates independently.

Open House | Tuesday, August 9
Session 1: 10:00 a.m. - noon
Session 2: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our Open House on August 9 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m and 2 p.m.-4 p.m. You may choose to drop in during either of these sessions. This is a great opportunity to meet your teachers, tour the school, sign up to volunteer with the PVA, pick up your carpool number, learn about fall sports, and much more.

For our incoming 7th and 8th graders and their families, we will offer short informational sessions at 10:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. in the cafeteria.

We are excited to welcome you all to what promises to be a great year on Wednesday, August 10th!

School Supplies

Organizational skills are key to each student's success in school and in life. To that end, NCA implements a school-wide organizational strategy that builds over time. In order to ensure that every student is able to follow the same system, NCA orders standardized school supplies for each student, and parents purchase the supplies from the school rather than at retail stores.

Every student will have all of the school supplies they need in their classroom on the first day of school. Parents will receive a payment invoice via ParentSquare next week, and we ask that everyone purchase their supplies by August 31. School supplies will be $50 for grades K-4 and $60 for grades 5-8. Payments do not have to be made before the first day in order for your child to receive their supplies.

Students will need to provide their own backpack. There are no requirements or limitations regarding the style of backpack to use, however we discourage backpacks with wheels.

Uniform Boards & Vendors

Information about what items to order and where to order is located on the Uniform Boards.

UNIFORM NOTES

  • HAIR and NAILS for boys and girls should be natural colors, and hair styles and MAKEUP should be non-distracting.

  • SHOES should be SOLID grey, navy, brown, black, or white. The midsole can be white, but logos should not be easily distinguished from the rest of the upper part of the shoe.

A NOTE ABOUT ORDER DELAYS

Due to a number of reasons, uniform orders may be delayed, and NCA is aware that some families may not have all uniform pieces before school starts.

If you do not have all of your pieces on the first day, please wear any pieces that you have and do your best to match the uniform pieces that you do not have. In addition, please notify Mrs. Penner that you have not received your full uniform order.

Jeans and athletic attire are not permitted. Dresses, skirts, and shorts should not be more than 2 inches above the knee, and pants and shorts should be worn at the waist. Please avoid rips and holes, oversized clothing, bright colors, words and logos, and other features that may be distracting to others.

Once uniform orders have been fulfilled, NCA will return to enforcing the entirety of the uniform policy.

Order lunches now for August!

Families may use these instructions to set up an account with Chef Advantage, view menus, and begin ordering lunches. Our school code is NCA44. Only new NCA families will need to create an account this year; returning families will need to use the same account as last year. When ordering lunches for the first few days of school, choose any teacher assignment and then edit the teacher choice in your profile after teacher assignments are given at Open House. Families may order for as many or as few days as they prefer. On days when a student does not order lunch, they should bring a lunch from home.

In regards to peanut allergies, Chef Advantage does not include peanuts in any of their meals, and the cafeteria will have peanut-free zones. Students may bring lunch items that include peanuts.

The free and reduced lunch program is available for qualifying families. For more information regarding financial assistance for school lunches, please click HEREIf you have questions or would like to request free- or reduced-price lunch, please contact Mrs. Bermann, Cafeteria Manager.

After School Program (ASP) - Registration is OPEN!

NCA is managing its own after school program which will allow the instruction in virtue and character that our students receive during the school day to continue seamlessly into the hours after school. Please see the NCA After School Care webpage for more information and registration details.

Carpool

Arrival

Carpool drop-off will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 7:55 a.m. Students should be in their homerooms by 8:00 a.m. Students who arrive after carpool closes must be escorted into the front office and signed in by a parent. Parents should park in the parking lot, not in the fire lane in front of the building.

Dismissal

Afternoon pick-up will begin at 3:15 p.m. and end at 3:45 p.m. Families should pick students up at the pick-up point of their youngest child. Grades K-1 and older siblings will be picked up at the front door. Grades 2-8 will be picked up at the north/back door.

Students who need to leave early must be checked out by 2:45 p.m. After 2:45 p.m., parents must go through the carpool line in order to pick up their student(s).

All students who are not enrolled in extracurricular activities or the after-school program should be picked up by 3:45 p.m. Students who are not picked up will be dismissed to the after-school program, and parents will be charged for the day.

Carpool Numbers

Every family will have a carpool number that will be distributed at Open House on August 9th. NCA-issued carpool numbers MUST be visible when you enter the carpool line for pick-up. In order to pick up children from another family, you should display the carpool numbers of all families in your front windshield.
