Midsummer Letter

Dear NCA Community,

As we approach the July 4th holiday, I hope you all are enjoying a restful, relaxing summer filled with joyful time with family and friends. This 4th of July marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a bold proclamation of liberty and self-government that not only created a new nation but also had far-reaching consequences for the rest of the world. On that day began the American experiment of a large and diverse society governing itself based on individual liberties and democratic ideals to secure “unalienable rights” such as “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” As we celebrate with our families this weekend, let us remember with gratitude and respect the challenges faced by our Founding Fathers and generations of other Americans over these past 250 years. The freedoms we enjoy today are possible because of the sacrifices made by so many others.

As an American classical school, NCA has been celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary throughout 2026 with patriotic music during carline, an America-themed Fine Arts Night, the Lower School Bookmark Design Challenge, a U.S.A. table at the Heritage Festival, and a Red, White, and Blue spirit day. We have additional activities planned in the fall to honor this milestone in our nation’s history. We will communicate more information as the time approaches.

On campus this summer, we have been hard at work preparing for the beginning of a new school year. We also look forward to our first NCA graduation as we are now a K-12 school!

Summer Camps

More than 100 students are participating in our summer programs including volleyball, basketball, arts and crafts, SAT Prep, and more. These camps enable students to remain connected to the school over the summer while exploring their interests alongside their teachers and coaches. We hope to continue growing our summer programming each year as we nurture a culture of engagement and opportunity. If you weren’t able to participate this year, I hope you’ll join us next summer.

Facilities

Our Operations team has been working hard to maintain and improve the building in preparation for the new school year. The floors have been waxed and look brand new. All of the ductwork for the HVAC system has been professionally cleaned. The forum, gym, and some hallways have a fresh coat of paint, and the new track now has painted lanes. We also installed new air conditioning units for the K-1 hallway as part of our long-term plan to replace all the air conditioning units in the building. Thank you to our amazing Operations team for managing all these summer projects.

Uniforms

Uniforms may be purchased online through our new approved vendor, Lands' End, for the 2026-2027 school year. For ease in navigating the site and items, use our school number and select each student’s grade level to view items that are specific to your child(ren). Our school number is 900208521. For your convenience, here is a link to the 2026-2027 uniform boards on the NCA website. Lands' End is running several promotions on select items from July 11 to August 14 for 10%-35% off.

Open House

Remember that we will host our Open House for all students and parents on Tuesday, Aug. 4. There will be two sessions: 9:00am-11:00am and 1:00pm-3:00pm. The largest crowds always come in the first 30 minutes of each window, so plan to arrive a little later if you’d like to avoid the crowd and have an easier time finding parking. On this day, students will receive their schedules, visit their classrooms, and meet their teachers. Families will also receive new carline placards and student parking permits for 2026-2027. Please join us to share in the excitement of the new year before the first day of class on Aug. 5. I look forward to seeing all of you at our Open House!

See our Back to School page for more details about Open House and other important information. Until then, may you have a wonderful rest of your summer!

Sincerely,

Matthew Reger

Head of School
