Back to School Letter

Dear NCA Families,

Welcome back for NCA’s 6th year of forming the hearts and minds of our students. With the first day of school right around the corner, I want to share a few updates and invite you to exciting moments ahead.

Summer at NCA

Our campus was full of excitement and activity this summer. We hosted seven summer camps across three weeks. Students in grades 1 through 12 enjoyed Woodland Workshops, athletic camps, SAT preparation courses, and more. We hope to offer even more programs next summer over a diverse range of interests for students.

Between and during camps, our Operations team worked tirelessly to prepare classrooms and school grounds for our students’ return. You’ll notice additional sidewalks, most notably in the recall section of carline, for improved safety and convenience. Other summer projects included waxing the floors, painting many spaces, refreshing the playground mulch, cleaning all the ductwork in the building, and replacing HVAC units. We look forward to welcoming students and parents back into a safe, clean, and joyful environment.

America’s 250th

I am excited to share the next two components of our celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. On Monday, August 17, we will have a Red, White, and Blue Spirit Day. All students and employees are encouraged to wear their favorite patriotic clothes in our nation’s colors. On September 10-12, NCA will host the Freedom Truck, a mobile museum celebrating 250 years of American independence. On Thursday and Friday, students will explore the exhibit during the school day. The truck will be open to all NCA families on Saturday, September 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend. Save the date, and look for more information in Legenda.

Open House

Our doors will be open on August 4 for two Open House sessions: 9:00-11:00 a.m and 1:00-3:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to walk your students through their daily schedule, meet teachers and staff, get involved with the Parent Volunteer Association, and reunite with friends. This will also be the time to receive new carline tags and, for our older students, parking passes. The largest crowds always come in the first 30 minutes of each window, so plan to arrive a little later if you’d like to avoid the crowd and have an easier time finding parking. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 5.

Welcome Our Senior Class

This year holds particular significance for NCA as our senior class begins their final year with us and will become our first graduating class in the spring. This group of students has grown along with our school, and we are cheering them on during this last stretch as they prepare to enter the world as knowledgeable, virtuous citizens. I look forward to spending time together with this special group of students at our Senior Sunrise event next week to kick off the new school year.

I anticipate a wonderful year ahead, and I will see you all at the Open House next week.

Sincerely,

Matthew Reger
